MCLEAN, VA. — Mars Incorporated announced Aug. 14 it has entered into an agreement with SYNLAB Group to acquire its subsidiary SYNLAB Vet, a European veterinary laboratory diagnostics provider, for an undisclosed amount. Closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

Once the acquisition is complete, SYNLAB Vet will become a part of Mars Petcare’s Science & Diagnostics division. The addition of SYNLAB Vet is expected to bolster Mars Petcare’s veterinary lab business in Europe and expand its full-service global veterinary diagnostic platform, which includes laboratories, point-of-care solutions, imaging and software, according to Mars.

“We look forward to welcoming SYNLAB Vet to the Mars Petcare family of businesses,” said Nefertiti Greene, president of Mars Science & Diagnostics. “We share the belief that excellence in veterinary diagnostics and advanced technology is transformative for veterinary care.

“This transaction is complementary to our existing diagnostics business and will bring additional reach across Europe and further our purpose to create A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS™,” Greene added.
