LAWRENCE, KAN. — HorizonPSI, a manufacturing and engineering company that develops material handling and automated solutions for pet food, has acquired a fabrication facility in Kansas. The facility addition is expected to double the company’s current production capacity.

The facility, located in Parsons, Kan., will allow HorizonPSI to offset many supply chain challenges for manufacturers in a variety of industries, including human food, plastics, chemical and pet food.

The fabrication facility boasts key manufacturing equipment and is twice the size of HorizonPSI’s facility in Lawrence.

“Adding 50,000 square feet of production space is just the start, we have also acquired additional equipment to increase efficiencies,” said Wes Kuhl, president of HorizonPSI. “We are excited to be bringing these expanded capabilities to provide the best solutions for our customers every day.”

The new equipment includes a 7.5-ton bridge crane that will expand the company’s production floor and its ability to handle larger items. The facility also expands HorizonPSI’s in-house capabilities in water jet cutting, which can cut a variety of materials without creating dust, and powder coatings, including high-quality, durable finished available in a range of colors and textures. The expanded capabilities are expected to reduce lead times.

Along with the facility acquisition and expanded capabilities, HorizonPSI will be expanding its personnel to support the facility.
