RANDERS, DENMARK — New Danish pet food startup Globe Buddy debuted its first sustainable dog treat line, Globe Buddy Crunch, on July 18. Products under the Globe Buddy Crunch line are insect- and plant-based.

The new treat line boasts three recipes: Insect Crunch, formulated with mealworms and black soldier fly larvae (BSFL); Veggie Crunch, formulated with fruits and vegetables; and Spirulina Crunch, formulated with spirulina, seaweed, alfalfa and vegetables.

To maintain its commitment to sustainability, Globe Buddy’s new treats are packaged in recyclable materials, which are completely plastic free.

“We want to inspire a sustainable pet life,” said Bjarne Gravesen Jensen, chief executive officer and co-founder of Globe Buddy. “Now we are giving pet parents a crunchy alternative to unsustainable, traditional meat-based treats. We have recently started to offer our products via Amazon in Germany, France, Italy and Spain. These expanding sales channels are helping Globe Buddy to meet the growing demand for premium and planet friendly products.”

The Globe Buddy Crunch line is grain-free and contains no added sugars, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. According to Globe Buddy, the treats are easy to digest, making them a natural fit for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies.

Globe Buddy also noted that it has plans to expand into the US pet food market. The company was founded in 2019 and officially launched its sustainable, complete-and-balanced dry dog food, Globe Buddy Blue, formulated with upcycled salmon proteins, in 2021. The company also has plans to expand its dog food offerings with Globe Buddy Brown, a dry kibble formulated with insect-based proteins.
