GREEN BAY, WIS. — Vital Essentials is accepting applications to send care packages to pet owners in need throughout May. The care packages will include Vital Essentials food and treats for dogs or cats, depending on the household needs.

“Some pet parents may be experiencing financial struggles during this time and we want to make sure they’re still able to feed their pets healthy food and treats,” said Melissa Olson, vice president of sales and marketing for Vital Essentials.

The initiative is part of Vital Essentials’ COVID-19 response plan to support local businesses, front-line and health care workers and pet owners as they cope with the financial and social impacts of the pandemic.

Carnivore Meat Company, the maker of Vital Essential products, in April donated its ultraviolet (UV) sterilization system to be used by front-line and medical employees to sanitize face masks and other PPE in northeastern Wisconsin.

The company also donated $100,000 to nonprofits throughout Wisconsin and sponsored a campaign to encourage other businesses to donate their resources to local relief efforts.

“We want to ensure that every pet receives the nutrition they deserve and we’re encouraging anyone who may be struggling to submit a nomination to receive a care package so that we can offer some support during this difficult time,” Olson said.

Anyone who knows a pet owner in need is encouraged to nominate online or by emailing woof@veraw.com.
